About the Instructor

Abu-Hurairah Saucedo have been training in Martial Arts since he was 4 years old and have been learning archery for around 4 years.
He has a background in Martial Arts, but his main study is Chinese archery.
archery helped him to connect with warrior figures of the past. Hearing the legends and feats of these great figures really made him wonder what was actually possible. And because of his martial arts background he wanted to study an archery style that was extensive and fully thought out, so he decided to train under his current coach, Justin Ma, the co-author of The Way of Archery, a 1637 Chinese military training manual. He helped translate it from classical Chinese to English.
My goal in this style of archery is to try and emulate what archers aforetime have been able to do. My approach is that of my coach’s, to be balanced. To be able to shoot efficiently with heavy bows whilst also being accurate, and fast and to never compromise form.
Archery summary –
The style of archery i practice and teach is a Chinese style written in 1637 Ming Dynasty China. It is a no nonsense martial style of archery that uses the thumb/Mongolian release which has the arrow on the right side of the bow (if right handed).
This allowed for extreme control of the bow and arrow of horseback but was also used on foot. This way of releasing was used across countless eastern cultures across a wide array of time periods. This Ming dynasty manual was geared for war so the focus was to be able to shoot heavy (draw weight) bows whilst being also accurate and fast. You should not strive to be just fast, or just strong, or just accurate, but rather all 3.
Adding to that, one should also be able to learn how to shoot on his non-dominant side as well. To be well versed on both your right and left side.
Shooting heavy bows is not necessary to practice this style of archery as it focuses on proper body alignment to shoot strong bows which translates to all bow weights for safe shooting.
When learning this style, one will learn proper joint alignment, along with the correct technique to be able to shoot accurately and fast (if need be). And if you want to be able to shoot heavy like the ancients before us, that too can be achieved with proper training and technique.
